Anoplolepis gracilipes is called the Yellow Crazy Ant because of its yellow (or reddish) color and its frenetic movements. The long legs and antennae move rapidly while they follow tight foraging trails. They are capable of dominating food resources, and forage both on the ground and on vegetation. They tend hemipterans and readily take sugar syrup at baits, filling their gasters until they are visibly distended.

The ants have entirely consumed the liquid sugar syrup and are now chewing the soaked paper. Notice the very active antennae.
