Abstract:

*[Based on recent collections, revision of preserved material, & published lists, 12 exotic ant species may be found in the Canaries. Two species, Linepithema humile (Argentine ant) & Paratrechina longicornis (crazy ant) exist in all of the islands. The detection of the invasive garden ant Lasius neglectus & its limited distribution, calls for an eradication program. Lasius neglectus, Paratrechina jaegerskioeldi, & Tetramorium caldarium are new additions to the Canarian fauna.]
