Head rugulose (P. rugosula, major)
Description:
Head with distinct parallel rugae extending from frontal lobes posterior to apices of frontal carinae. Shorter lengths of rugae present across entire posterior region of head and extending to posterior margin in full-face view (major worker). Diagnostic character useful for separating P. rugosula from other introduced Pheidole, especially those introduced in New Zealand.
