The frontal lobes are short and broad, and are distinctly rounded anteriorly. Used in Antkey to separate Myrmica specioides from Myrmica rubra.
frontal lobes obscure face
![image/jpeg 图像图标](/modules/file/icons/image-x-generic.png)
The frontal lobes are extremely broad. They extend laterally to obscure the margin of the face between the eye and the mandible. Used in Antkey to separate Cephalotes and Cyphomyrmex from other myrmicine genera.
frontal lobes do not obscure face margins
![image/jpeg 图像图标](/modules/file/icons/image-x-generic.png)
The frontal lobes variously shaped, but never so broad as to obscure the margin of the face between the eye and the mandible. Used in Antkey to separate all other myrmicine genera from Cephalotes and Cyphomyrmex.
frontal lobes close together
![image/jpeg 图像图标](/modules/file/icons/image-x-generic.png)
The frontal lobes relatively close together so that the posteromedian portion of the clypeus, where it projects between the frontal lobes, is at most only slightly broader than one of the lobes.
frontal lobes reduced

The frontal lobes are very reduced, sometimes to a thin carina. Used in Antkey to separate Amblyoponinae and Cerapachyinae from Ponerinae.
frontal lobes narrow
![image/jpeg 图像图标](/modules/file/icons/image-x-generic.png)
The frontal lobes are narrow, distinctly longer than broad and taper anteriorly. Used in Antkey to separate Myrmica rubra from Myrmica specioides.
frontal lobes far apart
![image/jpeg 图像图标](/modules/file/icons/image-x-generic.png)
The frontal lobes are relatively far apart so that the posteromedian portion of the clypeus, where it projects between the frontal lobes, is much broader than one of the lobes.
frontal lobes broad
