measurements
head width across eyes
Measure of the maximum cephalic width across the eyes. Used in Antkey to separate Tetramorium caespitum_cf from Tetramorium tsushimae.
petiolar node height
The vertical height of the petiole measured in profile from the lowest point of the subpetiolar process to a line that intersects the highest point of the dorsal outline (Bolton & Fisher 2011).
petiolar node length
In profile, the maximum length of the petiole node, measured in a straight horizontal
line from immediately above the dorsal base of the anterior petiolar tubercle to the posterior margin (Bolton & Fisher 2011).
petiolar node width
The maximum width of the petiole node in dorsal view
frontal carinae distance
The distance between frontal carinae. Used by Seifert (2003) to separate different species of Cardiocondyla.
propodeal spine length
propodeal spine length measured as a straight line from the center of the propodeal spiracle to the tip of the propodeal spine.
scape length
The maximum straight-line length of the scape, excluding the basal
constriction or neck that occurs just distal of the condylar bulb.
head length measurement
The maximum distance from the mid-point of the anterior clypeal margin to the midpoint of the posterior margin of head, measured in full-face view. Impressions on anterior clypeal margin and posterior head margin do not reduce head
length.
