Pheidole fervens is a mid-sized bimorphic species that is a strong recruiter and can defend food resources. The shiny minor workers look very similar to Pheidole megacephala in the field, but have relatively longer limbs. The major workers are more easily differentiated in the field because the heads are more rectangular than heart-shaped, and also tend to be dull rather than shiny.
Notice the bimorphic worker caste with majors and minors.
