Yesterday I had partial success importing data associated with ~12,000 specimens of Antkey species from Antweb. I had to split the 3mb file into four smaller files, and change some of the fields and formatting to comply with the TDWG Darwincore standards used by the Scratchpads platform. Even then, a bunch of fields failed to import. This was possibly due to the configuration of the slickgrid specimen module. It also became apparent that I had to import all the location data prior to the specimen data, because there are issues with updating the current specimen nodes with new data. That meant wiping out all the specimen nodes, importing all the locality nodes, then re-importing all the specimen nodes again. That was a very slow and painful process wrought with errors, so I'm going to wait until the Scratchpad team has a chance to look at these issues before I do any work on my own getting the specimen page running properly and getting the specimens to show up on the maps. In the meantime I've disabled the specimen page and also disabled the map views for the taxon page overview and map sections.
